Vineyards : Valley Oaks
Wine: Merlot
Location: California
Year: 2006
Purchased at: Walmart
Price: $7.50
Description on the bottle:
It has an easy, approachable style with aromas of ripe plums and flavors of blackberry and cherry. This wine goes great with just about any meal, making it a good choice to have on hand for every day.
Color: dark red
My experience:
The taste is rather strong for me, sometimes even with a subtle hint of bitterness. It feels as if the flavor is not quite balanced - some are overpowering others. In fact, it even overpowered the dish I was having it with. This wine probably has a good alcoholic content; after two glasses, I already feel a quite a buzz. Overall, can't say that I really enjoyed it.

Turning Leaf Merlot 2006
Vineyards : Turning Leaf
Wine: Merlot
Location: California
Year: 2006
Purchased at: Walmart
Price: $6.35
Description on the bottle:
Turning Leaf Merlot is a lush, elegant, and flavor wine. Rich in dark fruit flavor, merlot introduces a variety of tastes to its oak-softened texture. Splashes of cherry, plum and chocolate create a charming and magical blend to savor as a way of transforming any moment into an enchanting one.
Color: dark red
My experience:
From a layman's view, this tastes like a regular wine. It is pretty flavorful as described, but I don't detect a complex flavor, but a strong, basic bread-and-butter wine taste. It is not overwhelming, but exactly how I would expect a red wine to taste.
